Jalen Ramsey declares Miami Dolphins as ‘best group I’ve been a part of’

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey believes that the team’s cornerback unit is the “best group” that he has been a part of in his NFL career.

That’s some major praise from Ramsey, who was a part of an elite Jacksonville Jaguars defense that made the AFC Championship Game in 2018 as well as the Los Angeles Rams team that won the Super Bowl in 2022.

Ramsey will team up with star Xavien Howard in Miami’s secondary, immediately giving the Dolphins two of the best cornerbacks in the league. Howard is probably the best corner that has been opposite of Ramsey in his NFL career.

That’s going to make it tough on opposing offenses. Ramsey said that he is the “evil twin” to Howard, and he hopes to bring the best out of him this season.

The Dolphins acquired Ramsey in a trade that sent just a third-round pick in the 2023 draft and 24-year-old tight end Hunter Long to the Rams. To get a player of Ramsey’s caliber for that price is a massive steal for Miami.

Last season, Ramsey appeared in all seventeen games for the Rams, picking off four passes in the process. He finished with 88 tackles (a career high), four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Teaming up with Howard and Jevon Holland in Miami’s secondary should give Ramsey even more chances to create big plays for the Dolphins defense.

Miami ranked 27th in the NFL in passing yards allowed last season, so adding Ramsey should help the team improve in the 2023 campaign. Despite having a below average pass defense last season, the Dolphins still made the postseason with a 9-8 record.

Miami will have Ramsey in the 2023 campaign as well as the 2024 campaign. At just 28 years old, Ramsey is still in his prime, as showcased by his impressive numbers last season.

For his career, Ramsey has 19 interceptions in 108 games. He’s picked off multiple passes in five of his seven NFL seasons, and he’s looking to build on that with the Dolphins in 2023.
