Former Miami-Dade police officer Danny Torres recently reacted to the Miami Dolphins releasing veteran wide receiver Tyreek Hill in a social media post.
Torres was one of the cops on the scene when Hill was pulled over prior to the Dolphins’ regular-season opener in 2024. Bodycam footage showed Torres turning aggressive on the star receiver after Hill failed to fully follow another officer’s demands for him to keep his window rolled down, which led to Hill being told to get out of his car.
There was major fallout from the incident, which included Torres being placed on administrative duties during an investigation into the matter.
According to the Miami New Times, Torres called out Hill on Facebook after the star’s release, saying that “karma” finally got to the eight-time Pro Bowler.
“Hmmmm…. I guess it took a bit, but KARMA got you,” Torres wrote according to a screenshot obtained by the Miami New Times. “Now that I am retired I can tell you how I feel about you. You’re an entitled A—— and an embarrassment to the team and city that kissed your a–. I wish you the best and hope you are able to afford ALL that child support, especially now that you’re unemployed. But I’m sure someone will pick you up and you will cause havoc in their team and city. Just how you did in Miami. Btw, next time, roll your F….G window down.”
Clearly, Torres still has a major grudge against Hill, and he doesn’t seem to regret his pointed Facebook post.
Torres, who retired in July, told the Miami New Times in a text message that he was “pretty much crucified for my doing my job.” He also said that he stands by his Facebook post “100 percent.”
“I was actually nice,” he added. “He destroyed me and my reputation when the incident happened, and I had to stay quiet because I was still employed. But I am retired, so now is my turn to say the truth.”
Hill’s tenure in Miami lasted four seasons after he was acquired in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. The star receiver had a great first two seasons in Miami, finishing with over 1,700 receiving yards in each campaign.
He was named a Pro Bowler and an All-Pro in both seasons, and Miami made back-to-back playoff appearances. However, the Dolphins did not win a playoff game during Hill’s tenure. His former team – the Chiefs – has won two Super Bowls since the trade and appeared in the NFL’s biggest game three times.
The 2025 season ended abruptly for Hill, as he suffered a gruesome injury early in the campaign that cost him the rest of the season.
Hill was injured in Week 4 against the New York Jets. Prior to getting hurt, he caught 21 of his 29 targets during the season for 265 yards and one touchdown. Miami was just 1-3 in the four games that he played in during the 2025 season.
The Dolphins appear to be in a rebuilding phase after moving on from Hill, and it’ll be interesting to see where he lands ahead of the 2026 campaign.
