Wide receiver Tyreek Hill only added fuel to the fire that he won’t be a member of the Miami Dolphins for much longer with some comments he made in a post on X on Thursday morning. His message was vague, and it’s not all too clear how serious the post was meant to be, but he caught the attention of a lot of Dolphins fans by saying he wants to “go home.”
Even before Hill’s post, fans of the Dolphins had plenty of reasons to believe that he may very well have already played his final game with the organization.
For one, Hill is still recovering from a season-ending injury that saw him tear multiple ligaments (including his ACL) and dislocate his knee. When exactly he will be ready to step foot on an NFL field again is unclear, and it seems like he hasn’t even entirely ruled out retirement as a possibility.
Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, Hill has seen his quality of play has fall off a cliff in recent years. He had a real argument for being the best wide receiver in all of football across his maiden two seasons with Miami, but since then, it’s been downhill for the veteran. In his last two seasons with the Dolphins, he’s averaged just 58.3 receiving yards per game, far below his career average of 78.4 per contest.
While Hill didn’t specifically mention a location in saying that he wants to go home, he is a native of the state of Georgia, so it’s within the realm of possibility that he was subtly referring to the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta is on the heels of a more successful 2025 season than Miami, as it won eight games and ended the campaign on a four-game winning streak.
But perhaps more likely — if Hill’s post was even NFL-related at all — is the possibility that he was referring to the Kansas City Chiefs, his NFL home for a long time before he was traded to the Dolphins. Hill spent every one of his opening six seasons in Kansas City and won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
