It’s been a long time since wide receiver Tyreek Hill was last on the field for the Miami Dolphins. Back on Sept. 29 in a game against the New York Jets, he went down with a gruesome knee injury that ended his 2025 season after he appeared in only four games.
Nearly two months after Hill’s season-ending injury, his agent Drew Rosenhaus gave an injury update on the receiver and said his rehab is on schedule. Rosenhaus also touched on Hill’s future with the Dolphins organization, sharing he hasn’t spoken with the franchise about the wideout potentially returning to the squad in the 2026 season.
“Everything I get from Tyreek and the Dolphins is that his rehab is going extremely well,” Rosenhaus said. “He’s working incredibly hard. He’s made really great progress, and everything is going according to schedule.
“As far as Tyreek’s future plans, he’s said that he’s gonna take some time to decide. And obviously, there’s no rush for him. And for right now, he’s focused on his rehab and spending time with his family. … Believe me, he’s working extremely hard and taking his rehabilitation very seriously.”
Rosenhaus was then asked about the chances that folks see Hill in a Dolphins uniform in the 2026 campaign.
“I guess that depends on Tyreek and that depends on the Dolphins,” he said. “I haven’t had any discussions with the Dolphins yet about Tyreek or his future with the team. And I’m sure that we’ll have those discussions after the season.”
Because of the severity of Hill’s injury, even though he’s said to be progressing “according to schedule,” that doesn’t mean he will be ready to take an NFL field anytime soon. Not only did Hill suffer a dislocated knee, but he also reportedly tore multiple ligaments, including his ACL. It’s no guarantee that he will be healthy enough to play when the 2026 campaign starts up.
It seems very much within the realm of possibility that Hill has already played his last game for Miami. Injury woes aside, after he totaled 1,700-plus receiving yards in each of his opening two seasons with the Dolphins, his production took a dive. He played in all 17 of the Dolphins’ contests in the 2024 season, yet he didn’t reach quadruple digits in receiving yards.
Not only is his Dolphins future incredibly murky, but retirement doesn’t seem off the table for Hill either. He told his former teammate Terron Armstead not long ago that he will have a conversation with his family about the topic at some point. It’s unclear if that has happened yet.
While Hill’s uncertain NFL future will be a major offseason storyline for the Dolphins, they still have plenty of the 2025 season left to play and are looking to get back in the playoff picture. Miami has won three of its last four games and can improve to a record of 5-7 on the season with a victory over the New Orleans Saints this coming weekend.
