Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw a perfect pass to rookie wideout Braylon Sanders for a touchdown during training camp practice on Friday.
Tagovailoa’s dime just got over the outstretched arm of Nik Needham and allowed Sanders to turn upfield and take it to the house.
Dolphins fans will love to see Tagovailoa throwing the ball well in training camp, as his development is key to the Dolphins’ chances of making the playoffs in the 2022 season.
Tagovailoa has some improved weapons on offense with Tyreek Hill, Cedrick Wilson Jr., Chase Edmonds and Raheem Mostert. Sanders, a rookie out of the University of Mississippi, is looking to crack the receiver room in Miami for the regular season.
The Dolphins brought Sanders in as an undrafted free agent back in May. He played five seasons at Ole Miss and put together a decent career, registering 69 career catches for 1,453 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Rebels.
If Sanders continues to play well, there’s a chance he could make the roster to be a backup for Hill, Wilson and Jaylen Waddle.
Tagovailoa’s job is much more set in stone, as the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is entering his third NFL season.
In two seasons in Miami, Tagovailoa has compiled a 13-8 record as a starter, but the Dolphins have yet to make the playoffs with him on the team. After completing 67.8 percent of his throws last season, Tagovailoa is looking to lead Miami to the postseason with an improved roster around him in 2022.
