The Miami Dolphins have re-signed linebacker Elandon Roberts.
Roberts, who turns 27 years old next month, had signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins last year after spending his first four NFL seasons with the New England Patriots.
In 13 games for the Dolphins last season, Roberts offered the team a productive player against the run and finished with eight tackles for loss for the season.
The 2020 campaign came for Roberts to an abrupt end during the Dec. 26 road game against the Las Vegas Raiders when he sustained a season-ending injury.
The severity of Roberts’ injury, coupled with the timing of it coming so late in the season, raised the specter of rehabilitation that could cut into his availability for the early part of the 2021 campaign.
The Dolphins have already made moves to bolster their linebacking corps through signing free agent Brennan Scarlett and trading for Benardrick McKinney.
