It seems like forever ago that Colin Kaepernick started in a Super Bowl.
Just three years ago, Kaepernick was considered the top young quarterback in the game. At just 25 years of age and in his second season in the league, the versatile QB led the Niners to a Super Bowl appearance and was just five yards away from winning the team’s sixth Super Bowl in franchise history.
Fast forward to present day, and Kaepernick isn’t even considered the best quarterback in his own division.
The Niners are no longer considered Super Bowl contenders in 2015 as former head coach Jim Harbaugh left to coach the University of Michigan.
As the team’s stock has declined, so has Kaepernick’s. He enters the 2015 season considered the 19th-best quarterback in fantasy, after he threw for just 19 touchdowns and led San Francisco to a disappointing 8-8 record.
While many are down on the fifth-year quarterback, remember this—he was considered a top 10 quarterback just two seasons prior.
More than anything, he possesses dual-threat ability for a team with championship-experienced veterans in Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis.
He won’t be an elite quarterback, but you could do worse than Kaepernick as your backup quarterback and occasional starter during the 2015 season.
