Tua hypes up Dolphins fans at training camp: ‘Show me the money!’

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hyped up Dolphins fans at training camp while also celebrating his new contract extension on Sunday.

“I’ll tell you what, show me the money!” Tagovailoa yelled, earning a massive reception from the crowd.

The Dolphins quarterback recently agreed to a four-year extension with Miami, ending a long offseason of contract talks. A former first-round pick, Tagovailoa has steadily improved with the Dolphins, and the franchise rewarded him with a deal that makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

Tagovailoa then thanked the crowd for spending their Sunday supporting the team.

“We’re going to need you guys to hype us up,” Tagovailoa said. “It’s hot out here. And keep the chants going. Let’s go!”

It’s awesome for fans to see Tagovailoa in such great spirits now that he’s set to stay with the Dolphins for the long haul. Tagovailoa’s fifth-year option (for the 2024 season) was picked up by Miami, but his future beyond that was unclear until he agreed to the extension with the franchise.

The Dolphins have made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons with Tagovailoa at the helm, but the 2023 season was key for the young quarterback.

Not only did he have the best statistical season of his career, throwing for an NFL-leading 4,624 yards and posting career-highs in completion percentage (69.3 percent) and touchdown passes (29), but Tagovailoa was also healthy all season long.

That was huge for the University of Alabama product, as head injuries kept him out of action in several games – including Miami’s playoff loss – in the 2022 season.

Miami has not won a playoff game in the Tagovailoa era, but it is on the right path given the team’s success over the last two campaigns. The Dolphins nearly took a step forward and won the AFC East division in the 2023 season, but they lost on the final day of the season to the Buffalo Bills, costing them the division crown.

Dolphins fans clearly seem happy that Tagovailoa is going to be with the franchise for the long haul, and he’ll look to prove that he’s worth every penny of his new contract by leading the Dolphins to a deep playoff run when the 2024 season kicks off later this year.
