Tyreek Hill names his top 5 quarterbacks in the NFL

According to Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, Tua Tagovailoa is one of the five best quarterbacks in the NFL right now along with Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes.

Hill also included Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott and Baker Mayfield on his list.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory over Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers earlier in the year. He totaled 333 passing yards and two passing touchdowns while completing 34 of his 46 passing attempts in Kansas City’s three-point victory.

The former Texas Tech University standout won’t turn 29 years old until September, yet he already has three Super Bowl victories on his resume. Additionally, he has earned six Pro Bowl nods so far in his NFL career.

While Tagovailoa isn’t as accomplished of a quarterback as Mahomes, he was one of the more productive quarterbacks in the NFL during the 2023 regular season, his fourth season in the pros.

Across 17 games played with the Dolphins, he totaled career-highs in passing yards (4,624), first downs passing (222) and passing touchdowns (29). Tagovailoa actually threw for nearly 500 more yards than Mahomes did, considering the latter totaled 4,183 passing yards in his seventh NFL season.

Tagovailoa threw for the third-most yards in a single season of any quarterback in the history of the Dolphins franchise. Only Dan Marino (who threw for 4,746 yards in the 1986 season and 5,084 in the 1984 campaign) has had a better season in a Dolphins jersey in terms of total passing yards.

But Hill was a contributing factor in the success that Tagovailoa saw a season ago. He led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,799 and also appeared in all but one of Miami’s 17 regular-season contests.

Tagovailoa leading the Dolphins to their first playoff win since the year 2000 would seemingly go a long way towards validating Hill’s claim that he is a top-five quarterback in the league. The Dolphins made the playoffs after finishing the regular season with an 11-6 record but dropped their first playoff bout to the Chiefs.
