Tyreek Hill says he would’ve lit up Deion Sanders for 175 yards and 2 TDs: ‘Come on now’

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has never lacked confidence, and the latest reminder of that fact came during a recent podcast appearance featuring the wide receiver.

Asked during the podcast which defensive player in NFL history he would’ve liked to have played against, Hill quickly said Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, and he didn’t stop there.

“Deion Sanders, bruh,” Hill said. “Deion Sanders, bruh. And if I played against ‘Prime Time’ Deion Sanders, bruh, I’ma look you in your eyes and say this ’cause I already said this: 175 (yards), nine receptions and two touchdowns. Come on, now.”

Sanders — who primarily starred as a defensive back but also saw action at wide receiver and special teams in the NFL — retired with eight Pro Bowl selections, six All-Pro nods and two Super Bowl rings. He also earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in one season.

But those accolades evidently aren’t enough to scare Hill, one of the league’s top receivers today and a key piece of an impressive Dolphins offense. Hill has earned eight Pro Bowl selections, five All-Pro bids and one Super Bowl ring during his career. This past season, he led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,799.

Sanders is seen by some as one of the greatest athletes of all time, particularly because he also played professional baseball for many seasons and was a perfectly serviceable MLB player. These days, he’s the head football coach at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Hill and Sanders both have big personalities, and it wouldn’t come as a total shock to see the two of them face off on the gridiron just for kicks, but folks will never truly know what a matchup between a prime Hill and a prime Sanders would have looked like.

Both individuals are preparing for important seasons, as Sanders is looking to help Colorado take the next step in its development while Hill is hoping to help the Dolphins experience some playoff success.

Colorado went 4-8 this past season despite stealing the college football spotlight for part of the season. The Dolphins, meanwhile, put together another winning campaign and reached the playoffs, but they took a quick exit in the first round.

Hill won’t ever get a real chance to post 175 yards and two touchdowns on Sanders, but he will get a chance to rack up numbers like those against other players in the 2024 NFL season.
