Tyreek Hill offers major reality check on Miami Dolphins moving forward

Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill believes that the team has no excuses not to play well in the playoffs next season.

In the 2023 regular season, the Dolphins were one of the more successful teams in the NFL. Despite picking up losses in its final two games of the regular season, Miami still ended up with an impressive 11-6 record, which was tied with the Buffalo Bills for the best record in the AFC East division.

The Dolphins also had one of the best scoring offenses in the league during the regular season. Miami averaged a whopping 29.2 points per game, which was the second-highest scoring average in the NFL behind only the Dallas Cowboys.

Hill was a major reason why the Dolphins had so much success on the offensive side of the ball. The 29-year-old wide receiver totaled 1,799 receiving yards in 16 games played with the Dolphins in the regular season.

But the team’s offense struggled mightily in its playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs back on Jan. 13. Miami’s offense scored just seven points and accumulated a mere 264 total yards in a game the squad lost by 19 points.

Plus, Hill didn’t play at the top of his game against his former team in the Chiefs. He ended up with only 62 receiving yards on five receptions, though he did score the Dolphins’ only touchdown of the game.

The 2022 season was a similar story for Hill and the Dolphins. The team finished the regular season with a 9-8 record and qualified for the playoffs, but Miami’s postseason run was brief. The Dolphins lost to the Bills in the playoffs by a final score of 34-31. Hill ended up with 69 receiving yards on seven receptions in the losing effort, with his longest reception being for 19 yards.

Hopefully, Hill and the Dolphins can learn from their shortcomings in the playoffs in recent seasons and use the losses as motivation to perform at a high level if they get to participate in the playoffs once again moving forward.
