Kyle Brandt rips Miami Dolphins, calls them Dallas Cowboys of AFC

NFL Network analyst Kyle Brandt ripped the Miami Dolphins on “Good Morning Football” on NFL Network after the team lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9 of the 2023 season.

Brandt compared the Dolphins to the Dallas Cowboys – a franchise that has struggled to have any major success since it won the Super Bowl in the 1995 season. Dallas hasn’t made an NFC Championship Game appearance since that season.

“As for Miami, I love you,” Brandt said. “But you are not serious people. OK? You’re the AFC Cowboys. There’s nothing wrong with that. You guys are perfect together. Here’s the bottom line – and if you wanna go any other direction, you’re putting your head in the sand.”

Brandt went on to list off some stats that don’t paint the Dolphins in the greatest light. He pointed out that the team only averages 17 points per game against teams that are above .500 this season.

Things change when the Dolphins play teams .500 or below, as Brandt mentions that they average 39 points per game in those matchups.

“17 points against the good teams, 39 points against the crap teams,” Brandt said. “That’s all it is. You’re in a certain weight class, when you seem to be bumping your head up against the ceiling. It’s very Cowboys-like. Maybe you’ll fix it. Maybe you’ll get better. Right now, you’re a very good team, you are not serious people.”

Brandt is certainly being harsh on the Dolphins for losing to one of the best teams in the NFL, but Miami is 0-3 against opponents who are over .500 this season. That puts the team in a tough spot as it looks to secure a playoff spot – and the AFC East division crown – this season.

Miami has to close the season with three games against teams that are currently over .500 on the season.

In Weeks 16, 17 and 18, the Dolphins will take on the Cowboys (5-3), Baltimore Ravens (7-2) and Buffalo Bills (5-4). Miami already lost to Buffalo earlier this season by 28 points.

The Dolphins didn’t get blown out by the Chiefs in Week 9, but their offense struggled in the game, mustering just two touchdowns. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also missed receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. late in the fourth quarter on what could have been a game-tying touchdown reception (pending an extra point).

The Dolphins are still in first place in the AFC East since the Bills lost in Week 9 to the Cincinnati Bengals, but they’ll need to beat some quality opponents for analysts like Brandt to start giving them more respect as contenders this season.
