De’Von Achane’s former opponent recalls time Miami Dolphins rookie scored 7 TDs in 1st half of middle school game

A former opponent of Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane recently detailed a crazy story where the NFL rookie scored seven times in one half of a game in middle school.

“Leading up to that week, the practices was more intense,” Achane’s former opponent said. “Our coaches was really gettin’ on us because he was trying to warn us that it’s a player on that team that’s — he like that.”

Achane’s former opponent revealed that even at his local barbershop, there were people talking about the matchup, but his team was confident before facing the current Dolphins star.

“We don’t care how hyped up he is, we gon’ kill him, bro,” he said of his team’s mindset before facing Achane.

Despite the confidence before the game, things changed in a big way once the matchup got underway.

“We get there, we warming up and their running back — while everybody is warming up — he’s just sitting on the bench,” the former opponent said.

He said he and his teammates found that disrespectful at the time because they thought Achane was acting like he was so good that he didn’t need to warm up.

“The game starts, we kick it off to them ’cause they got ball first,” Achane’s former opponent said. “We kick it inside the end zone. Instead of waving it off, he decides to pick it up. Bro, when I tell y’all this man broke every single tackle, bro — this man trucked like seven of us on the way to the end zone. This is the first play of the game, by the way. This man scored seven touchdowns in the first half of the game.”

The story is truly incredible. It appears Achane was destined for the NFL even at a young age.

A third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Achane has seven all-purpose touchdowns in his NFL career right now, even though he’s played in just four games. It seems like the Dolphins youngster has always had a knack for finding the end zone.

This season, he has also amassed 460 rushing yards on 38 carries. He leads the NFL in yards per carry (12.1) and rushing yards per game (115.0).

“I don’t think we tackled him the entire game, bro,” Achane’s former opponent added. “At the end of the game, they had to punt the ball. He decides to punt the ball. He punted the ball and was the first one down there to make the tackle.”

Achane is extremely fast, and he’s been campaigning that he’s the fastest player on the Dolphins — even though the team has star wideout Tyreek Hill.

Achane’s former opponent said that he told his teammates after the game that Achane would eventually reach the NFL. He certainly got that part right.

Right now, Achane is on injured reserve for the Dolphins after suffering a knee injury in Week 5. Hopefully, he will be able to recover from the injury and return to help Miami during the stretch run of the regular season and into the playoffs.
