Tyreek Hill reveals potentially season-changing advice Dan Marino gave Miami Dolphins before Week 1

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill had himself a day for the ages in his team’s season opener on Sunday afternoon, catching 11 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns.

After the game, he mentioned some key advice he got from Dolphins legend Dan Marino during preseason.

“We actually got that advice from the great Dan Marino actually,” Hill said. “He was like, ‘You guys need to start meeting together after practice and don’t meet wit y’all position coach.’ So, we decided to start meeting together, and ever since then, it’s like everything’s been on the same page with Tua [Tagovailoa]. Everybody’s been on the same page with Tua. And that last drive was a perfect example of it.”

Hill went on to mention some more details about his conversation with Marino, saying that the legendary quarterback revealed he used to do exactly what he recommended when he was a member of the Dolphins. The 29-year-old says the move has been “working wonders.”

The Dolphins were on fire on offense for most of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. They were able to rack up 536 yards of total offense, with 466 of those yards coming through the air. Tagovailoa completed 28 of his 45 pass attempts for three touchdowns and one interception.

Hill and Tagovailoa seem to be even more in sync now than they were a season ago. The two produced tons of exciting plays against the Chargers.

Earlier this year, Hill said he would become the first player to record 2,000 receiving yards in a season during the 2023 campaign. With his 215 receiving yards against the Chargers, he’s on pace to get 3,655 receiving yards for the whole season. That would arguably be the most impressive feat in NFL history if he were to accomplish that.

For now, however, Hill and the Dolphins should simply focus on next week’s game against the New England Patriots, as it will be their first divisional game of the campaign.

It will be a road contest on Sunday night for the Dolphins, so the lights will be shining pretty bright. Hill is likely already excited for the matchup and ready to have a repeat of his Week 1 performance.
