Zach Thomas sends special message to Miami Dolphins fans after becoming Hall of Famer

Miami Dolphins legendary linebacker Zach Thomas sent a message to fans after he was named a Pro Football Hall of Famer.

It’s a long time coming for Thomas, who is one of the better linebackers in the history of the NFL and Dolphins history.

“Hey Dolphin fans, I made it,” Thomas said. “Check this out. Hey, so you don’t have to vent no more about me not making the Hall of Fame. But I’m very proud to represent you guys, represent my teammates in Canton this August. So, get ready. Let’s go!”

It’s awesome to see Thomas finally honored for the terrific career that he had in the NFL, where he mainly played with the Dolphins. Thomas played 13 seasons in the NFL after being drafted in the fifth round of the 1996 NFL Draft by Miami.

Despite his draft position, Thomas was an impact player from the day he stepped onto the field for the Dolphins. In his rookie season, he started all 16 games for the team, totaling 154 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three interceptions.

He finished second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting that season.

A seven-time Pro Bowler, Thomas kept that level of play for several seasons with Miami, leading the league in tackles twice.

In 1998, Thomas had arguably his best season as a professional, finishing in third in the voting for Defensive Player of the Year. He totaled 137 tackles that season and scored two defensive touchdowns.

Over his storied career, Thomas finished with 17 interceptions and 16 forced fumbles from the linebacker position. He also recorded 1,734 combined tackles and 20.5 sacks.

The Hall of Famer didn’t play his entire career in Miami, as he finished his NFL career in the 2008 season with the Dallas Cowboys. Thomas still played at a high level that season, starting 14 of the 16 games he appeared in and recording 94 combined tackles.

Thomas’ durability during his NFL career was amazing. He only had one season (2007) where he played in less than 11 games.

There’s no doubt that Thomas is one of the greatest players in Dolphins franchise history, so it’s great to see him honored for the amazing career he had.

Dolphins fans can support him at his enshrinement this coming August at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
