Mike McDaniel, Jaelan Phillips and Jaylen Waddle learn some cultural dances at Tua Tagovailoa’s luau

It seems like new Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is putting in time to get to know his players better.

Miami starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was born in Hawaii, recently held a luau through his foundation. McDaniel and Dolphins players Jaelan Phillips and Jaylen Waddle were in attendance and participated in the event.

After Miami had another disappointing campaign in the 2021 season, it let go of head coach Brian Flores. The team hired McDaniel this offseason and is hoping that the former San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator will pump new life into the Dolphins franchise.

In early March, the 39-year-old coach expressed excitement about working with Tagovailoa and stated that the quarterback has a bright future ahead of him.

Since entering the league in 2020, Tagovailoa has had an uneven professional career. However, he has shown flashes of brilliance that have given fans some hope that he can help lead Miami back to the playoffs in the near future.

Aside from Tagovailoa, there are some other promising youngsters on Miami’s roster. Two of them are Phillips and Waddle.

Phillips was a first-round pick by the Dolphins in the 2021 NFL Draft. The linebacker played all 17 games in the 2021 season and started five of them. He recorded 42 tackles and 16 quarterback hits.

On the other hand, Waddle was also chosen in the first round of the 2021 draft by the Dolphins. The wide receiver started 16 games in the 2021 season, catching 104 passes for 1,015 yards and six touchdowns.

Fans are hoping that all four of these Dolphins figures will help the team finally find success again.
