Miami Dolphins star cornerback Xavien Howard gave an inspiring message to his teammate Jevon Holland at the Pro Bowl.
Holland, one of the team’s second-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft, had a very strong rookie season.
He appeared in 16 games for the Dolphins, making 13 starts. He quickly became a key cog in the Dolphins secondary.
During the 2021 season, Holland picked up 69 total tackles, three tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions. He was an instant impact player for Miami and started every game he played in from Week 5 through the end of the season.
Howard is a fantastic mentor for Holland, as the Pro Bowl defensive back is one of the best defenders in the game.
After leading the NFL in interceptions (10) and passes defended (20) during the 2020 season, Howard had another strong campaign for the Dolphins in 2021.
The 28-year-old started all 16 games that he appeared in and picked off five passes for the Dolphins. Howard also finished the year with 50 total tackles and 16 passes defended. This is the third time in his career that he has been named to the Pro Bowl.
Miami is currently searching for a new head coach after letting go of Brian Flores. The team seems to have narrowed down its search to San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel and Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
The Dolphins have a solid young core on defense, but they are hoping that the rest of the team can improve to make the playoffs next season.
