Report: Miami Dolphins to conduct 2nd interview with Kellen Moore on Saturday

The Miami Dolphins reportedly will have a second interview with Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their head coaching vacancy on Saturday.

Moore helped lead the Cowboys to the NFC East title in the 2021 season, but Dallas was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers.

Moore has been on Dallas’ coaching staff since the 2018 season, when he was the team’s quarterbacks coach.

He was then promoted to offensive coordinator and has held that role for the past three seasons.

Under Moore’s guidance in the 2021 season, Dallas registered the most yards of total offense in the NFL with 6,919. The Cowboys also scored the most points (530) in the NFL during the regular season and threw for the second-most yards (4,800) in the league.

It is possible that the Dolphins view Moore as a candidate that can get the most out of Tua Tagovailoa next season.

Tagovailoa was the team’s No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he has not been able to lead the Dolphins to the playoffs in his first two years with the team.

Miami is hoping that a new coach will be able to unlock Tagovailoa’s potential and take the team’s offense with Jaylen Waddle and DeVante Parker to new heights.

Moore would be the youngest head coach in the league if the Dolphins decide to hire him, as he is just 32 years of age.

Moore briefly played in the NFL for the Cowboys during the 2015 season after an impressive collegiate career at Boise State University. He appeared in three games at quarterback for Dallas, making two starts.

In his playing career, Moore completed 61 of his 104 passes for 779 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions.
