Report: Brian Daboll has ‘solid support’ inside Miami Dolphins organization

The Miami Dolphins are in the midst of a search for a new head coach after the team let former skipper Brian Flores go.

According to a recent report, there is one respected candidate who already has “solid support” within the Dolphins organization. That is Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

Daboll’s Bills were just bounced out of the playoffs after an epic overtime clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Daboll has helped turn the Bills’ offense into a total powerhouse. Buffalo was the No. 5 team in total yards per game with 381.9 during the 2021 regular season. The Bills were also the No. 3 team in the 2021 regular season in terms of points scored.

If the Dolphins were to ultimately hire Daboll to be their head coach, it would mark a major philosophical shift from the previous regime. Of course, Flores is known as a defensive-minded coach.

Unfortunately, that approach often seemed to leave the offense as an afterthought. In the current NFL, games are often decided in offensive shootouts, and Flores’ philosophy simply did not work out for the Dolphins enough.

Given a recent rumor that Tua Tagovailoa is expected to remain the starter in Miami next season, Daboll seems like a solid choice. Daboll has been instrumental in helping to turn Josh Allen into an elite quarterback. Perhaps he could do the same with Tagovailoa.

With the coaching market heating up, the Dolphins will surely want to get a deal done for their next head coach sooner rather than later.
