Brian Flores breaks his silence after getting fired by Miami Dolphins

Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores shared a statement after being let go from the team earlier on Monday.

Flores spent three seasons with the Dolphins, leading the team to a 9-8 record this season after a 33-24 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. Miami had a rough start to the year at 1-7, but the team rattled off wins in eight of their final nine games to get back above .500.

It was a 34-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 17 that cut down any hopes of a postseason berth for Miami. The Dolphins finished the season third in the AFC East behind the Patriots and Buffalo Bills. Both of their AFC East rivals will be headed to the playoffs.

The former Dolphins head coach finished his time with the team with a record of 24-25. After finishing 5-11 in his first season as head coach, the Dolphins finished with winning records in both of the past two seasons.

Young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continued to improve in his second season under Flores, finishing with 2,653 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He added 128 rushing yards and three rushing scores in his second year in Miami despite missing multiple games this season.

Rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle had a monster year for the Dolphins in his first NFL season, finishing with 1,015 receiving yards and six touchdown grabs.

The Dolphins apparently won’t be moving on from general manager Chris Grier who has been with the Dolphins since 2016. Miami is 47-50 in six seasons with Grier as general manager.
