NFL insider reveals status of Chris Grier’s position after Miami Dolphins fire Brian Flores

It seems like the Miami Dolphins won’t be sending Chris Grier out the door with Brian Flores a day after the regular season came to an end.

Grier has been with the Dolphins since 2016 and has three seasons under his belt where the team finished with a winning record. Miami finished this season at 9-8 after Sunday’s 33-24 win over the New England Patriots.

The Dolphins have a 47-50 record under Grier in six seasons. Miami has finished above .500 in the past two seasons. It took a late surge to reach that mark this season after a rough start to the year.

Miami started this past season at 1-7 before winning eight of its final nine games. The Dolphins began and finished the season with wins over the Patriots. Miami finished third in the AFC East behind the Buffalo Bills and Patriots.

Flores leaves his position with the Dolphins after three seasons, finishing with a 24-25 record. A 34-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 17 put to bed any hopes of a postseason berth for Miami.

Flores was one of a number of NFL head coaches let go after the regular season came to a close this past weekend. The former Dolphins head coach helped lead the team to winning records in their past two seasons after finishing 5-11 in his first year.

Tua Tagovailoa finished with 2,653 passing yards in his second season in the NFL to go with 16 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
