Report: Miami Dolphins want Tua Tagovailoa to play vs. Baltimore Ravens

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is currently dealing with a finger injury.

He was unable to start in the Dolphins’ win this past weekend against the Houston Texans, and it’s uncertain if he will be able to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.

The Dolphins apparently want Tagovailoa to play on Thursday, according to a new report.

“One thing has been made clear to me: The Dolphins want Tua to play,” reported NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. “They want to continue his development, and they want to continue their evaluation of him in what will be a very important last eight games of the season. Tua wants to play. He wanted to play last week, but they do want to see if the grip in his fingers improves. They’ve worked him out. He’s thrown well. I’ve seen him throw, throw 20-yard passes, and it’s looked good at times, but they want to make sure that Thursday he can throw every throw.”

Tagovailoa has missed multiple games this season due to injury. During the 2021 campaign, the 23-year-old has completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 1,040 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions. The Dolphins have a 1-4 record in games he has started.

The former first-round pick’s future with the organization seems to be up in the air, as the team was heavily linked with Deshaun Watson up until the trade deadline.

Tagovailoa might just need the rest of this season to prove that he can be the franchise quarterback for the Dolphins.

Miami is currently 2-7 on the season, and the postseason seems to be out of reach for this team.
