Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores offered an injury update on wide receiver Will Fuller on Monday.
According to Flores, Fuller is “getting closer,” but he likely won’t be able to return to practice just yet.
Fuller’s 2021 campaign has been ravaged by injuries and other setbacks. He has appeared in just two games as a result.
The 27-year-old was expected to be a major part of Miami’s attack on offense this season, but he has just four receptions for 26 yards on the year.
There’s really no reason to rush Fuller back at this point, as the Dolphins aren’t likely to challenge for a playoff bid after their 1-6 start. Staying healthy should be one of the top priorities for the remainder of the year.
When Fuller is healthy and at his best, he’s capable of being a big weapon. Last season, for example, he reeled in 53 catches for 879 yards and eight touchdowns over just 11 games.
