The Miami Dolphins were dealt a major blow on Sunday ahead of their matchup with the New York Jets.
After a lot of uncertainty regarding Tua Tagovailoa’s playing status, the rookie was ruled out for Sunday’s game and may miss multiple weeks due to his thumb injury.
Although Tagovailoa is coming off a game in which he was benched for his performance, the Dolphins still have a lot of faith in the player they expect to be the face of their franchise moving forward.
Along with a potentially promising future ahead with Tagovailoa under center, Miami is very much in the playoff picture in the AFC this season.
However, if Tagovailoa cannot play for multiple weeks with the thumb injury, the team’s chances of clinching a playoff spot could take a drastic turn.
Ahead of Sunday’s game, the Dolphins are sporting a 6-4 record while sitting behind the 7-3 Buffalo Bills in the AFC East.
Every game will be crucial from here on out for Miami as making the playoffs becomes its top priority with or without Tagovailoa under center.
