Miami Dolphins veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will be back under center on Sunday against the New York Jets.
The Dolphins ruled out rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as he is dealing with a thumb injury.
While Fitzpatrick will make his first start since he was benched for Tagovailoa following the Dolphins’ Week 6 win over the Jets, he isn’t optimistic that he will make many more in Miami.
Fitzpatrick called the Dolphins’ decision to start Tagovailoa a “forever decision.”
There is no clarity on whether or not the rookie will be healthy next week, but it seems that Fitzpatrick is bracing for a return to the bench.
Miami is 6-4 on the season. Fitzpatrick has gone 3-3 as the starter, while Tagovailoa has compiled a 3-1 record.
Fitzpatrick replaced Tagovailoa last week in the Dolphins’ loss to the Denver Broncos, but he threw a game-ending interception.
