Report: Major update offered on Austin Jackson’s recovery from injury

A new report indicates that Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Austin Jackson could return to action for the team’s road game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Jackson, a rookie out of the University of Southern California, suffered a foot injury earlier this season and was placed on the team’s injured reserve.

That move by the Dolphins meant that Jackson would be unavailable for at least three weeks, though head coach Brian Flores indicated that Jackson would return before the end of the season.

Prior to the injury, Jackson had made the Dolphins’ selection of him with the 18th overall pick in April’s NFL draft look like a wise choice.

Jackson helped bolster an offensive line that had plenty of trouble protecting the Dolphins’ quarterbacks in 2019. His possible return would come at a crucial time, with the 4-3 Dolphins in the midst of a three-game winning streak and in contention for a possible playoff berth.

Another important reason that the return of Jackson would be a welcome sign for the Dolphins is that it would offer added protection for the team’s starting quarterback, fellow rookie Tua Tagovailoa.
