Rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa helped lead the Miami Dolphins over the Los Angeles Rams last week and now has another tough challenge this week against Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals.
Ahead of the clash between these two young quarterbacks, Murray talked about his former college rival and what Tagovailoa needs to do during his rookie season with the Dolphins.
“It can go either way,” Murray said. “They can underestimate you. They can respect you. But at the end of the day when you’re a rookie quarterback, you’ve just got to prove yourself.
“I had to prove myself each and every week that I belong. I’m still doing that till this day. That was my whole focus. You’ve just got to try to gain that confidence, and once that confidence gets rolling, you feel more and more comfortable.”
In his debut as a starter for Miami, Tagovailoa struggled to put up the numbers to prove he truly was the right choice to replace veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Although the Dolphins came away with a win against a very good Rams team, the rookie quarterback failed to crack 100 yards passing with 93. However, he did throw a touchdown pass to DeVante Parker and was sacked only one time.
The Cardinals will be another tough challenge for the University of Alabama product as he aims to prove his first win as a starter in the NFL was no fluke.
