Report: Miami Dolphins to be without 5 coaches vs. Arizona Cardinals due to COVID-19

The Miami Dolphins will be without the services of five assistant coaches for their Sunday road contest against the Arizona Cardinals due to the NFL’s COVID-19 safety protocols.

No specific details are being offered as to why the coaches will be unavailable, but the NFL has been intensely focused on avoiding any outbreaks of the highly contagious virus.

Gerald Alexander is currently the Dolphins’ defensive backs coach; Robby Brown serves as the quarterbacks coach; Austin Clark handles the team’s outside linebackers; Marion Hobby is in charge of the defensive line, and Kolby Smith is the team’s quality control coach.

Of the five coaches missing, one of the most important could be Brown, since rookie Tua Tagovailoa will be starting the first road game of his NFL career.

One positive in Brown’s absence is that veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick will be on the sidelines and will offer the Dolphins the equivalent of a player-coach.

The Dolphins are seeking to win their fourth straight game and pick up their third consecutive road victory.
