Tua Tagovailoa reflects on successful NFL debut with humble, inspiring message
- Updated: October 19, 2020

At long last, Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa made his NFL debut in Week 6 of the 2020 season.
Afterward, he posted an inspiring message on social media to remind everyone that Sunday was merely the next step in his football journey.
Tagovailoa was the fifth overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, and he came to South Florida with the huge expectation of rescuing a Dolphins franchise that had rarely made the playoffs in recent seasons.
However, he suffered a hip injury last November that required surgery and a long rehabilitation period.
Miami head coach Brian Flores has felt that the University of Alabama product simply wasn’t ready to play the last several weeks, and therefore he continued to sit.
On Sunday, Tagovailoa entered the contest late in the fourth quarter with the Dolphins holding a big lead over the New York Jets.
He came out onto the field while getting a warm welcome, and he proceeded to complete both of his pass attempts.
Hopefully for the Dolphins, it’s a sign of what lies ahead for the rookie over the next several years.
