Video: Tua Tagovailoa Seen Putting in Work During Miami’s First Day of Padded Practice

Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa took another step forward on Monday, taking part in the team’s first practice day in pads.

Tagovailoa has been aggressively rehabilitating his surgically repaired hip since he underwent a procedure last November.

Along the way, there was some doubt as to whether he would even be able to play during the 2020 season, but it seems clear that he’s continuing to make progress with his development.

Under ordinary circumstances, Tagovailoa’s first day in pads would have come much sooner, but the coronavirus pandemic essentially put the Dolphins and every other NFL team in limbo.

Of course, until Tagovailoa takes part in actual game action, questions about his ability to play in the NFL figure to linger. However, since being drafted by the Dolphins in April, Tagovailoa has shown an eagerness to absorb as much work as possible.

Since the Dolphins aren’t playing any preseason contests this year, it remains uncertain as to whether Tagovailoa will be under center when the season is scheduled to begin on Sept. 13.

The Dolphins fully expect Tagovailoa to take the reins at some point, preferably this season, and become the team’s quarterback of the future.
