As part of an annual offseason tradition, EA Sports is revealing the ratings of players who will appear in the newest installment of the “Madden NFL” franchise.

Just a few weeks ago, EA Sports released game footage in its trailer. On Thursday, it started unveiling player ratings.

First up, Miami Dolphins rookie Tua Tagovailoa and other rookie quarterbacks had their ratings revealed. Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young presented the ratings to the Tagovailoa and the other rookies.

The former University of Alabama quarterback was thrilled to see Young presenting his rating.

The three-time Super Bowl champion is the only left-handed quarterback in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, so he’s a great role model for Tagovailoa, who also throws with his left hand.

Tagovailoa was rated a 73 overall, second among rookie quarterbacks behind Cincinnati Bengals quarterback and top pick Joe Burrow (76 overall).

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (71 overall) and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (70 overall) are the only other rookie quarterbacks rated in the 70s.

Tagovailoa’s toughness rating (90) and throw power rating (88) are his top abilities in the game.

“Madden NFL 21” will release worldwide on Aug. 28, 2020, but fans who preorder the game can play beginning on Aug. 25.
