Following the Miami Dolphins’ Week 18 loss to the New York Jets in the 2024 season, wide receiver Tyreek Hill heavily implied that he was done with the Dolphins organization.
He spoke with the media after the game, and based on his comments, it seemed possible that he would soon formally request a trade out of Miami after spending three seasons with the team.
“I’m out,” he said in part.
But fast forward several months, and Hill is still a member of the Dolphins. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa believes that Hill still has repair work to do after what he said at the end of last season, however.
Tua Tagovailoa says Tyreek Hill rebuilding relationship with him & team is a โwork in progressโ after Tyreek WK18 โIโm outโ comment.
Tua: โWhen you say something like that you donโt just come back with โMy bad.โ You gotta work that relationship up. He is working on himself.โ pic.twitter.com/acv6Fq2Eps

Hill has expressed regret regarding how he voiced his frustrations at the conclusion of the season. The 2024 campaign marked the first time in Hill’s career that he failed to make the playoffs, and he is accustomed to winning at a high level.
He made a number of deep playoff runs while playing for the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in his NFL career and at least suited up in the playoffs in his first two seasons as a Dolphin. As such, the disappointment of last season was clearly hard to swallow.
Hill seemingly could help the Dolphins organization and its fans move on from his controversial comments in the past by having a bounce-back season in the 2025 campaign. The 31-year-old totaled just 959 receiving yards a season ago, by far his fewest in any one season as a Dolphin.
Folks should be optimistic that he can rebound and get back to the player he was earlier on in his Dolphins career in the 2025 season. After all, he’s on track to be healthier than he was in 2024, and with any luck, he’ll also get to play more games with Tagovailoa, assuming the quarterback’s own health cooperates.
Hill should be focused on making sure his relationships with folks up and down the organization are amicable on top of trying for a bounce-back season. If he can accomplish both of those things, chances are he will be on good terms with the team moving forward.
