Report: Duke Riley to re-sign with Miami Dolphins on 1-year deal

2 Min Read

The Miami Dolphins are currently working on getting their roster into shape for the upcoming 2022 NFL season.

After making multiple moves on Monday, the Dolphins have now agreed to a one-year deal with linebacker Duke Riley.

This certainly isn’t the biggest move, but the offseason is not just about adding superstar talent to the roster. It is also about maintaining team depth and chemistry.

Surely, bringing Riley back for a second season with the team will help in that respect. Last season, the 27-year-old was a solid performer on special teams and key reserve on defense, playing well when called upon.

Riley entered the league after being drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Louisiana State University. He spent nearly three full seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

After spending some time with the Eagles, he moved on to join the Dolphins.

In the 2021 season with the Dolphins, Riley played in 16 games, starting in three of those matchups. He finished the season with 26 combined tackles.

With the offseason still in its early days, the Dolphins still have loads of time to make some more noteworthy moves. With new Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel looking to start his tenure off on the right foot, the Dolphins are surely going to at least try to make some big additions this offseason.

Recent reports indicate just that. However, it remains to be seen if they will be able to lure any notable players to South Florida.
