The Miami Dolphins’ season is over after they lost 32-20 on Sunday to the New York Jets, and so could Tyreek Hill’s time with them.
After the game, the star wide receiver made some comments that make it seem as if he already has one foot out the door and will soon formally ask to be traded.

Hill was sent to the Dolphins prior to the 2022 season in a stunning trade from the Kansas City Chiefs, where he had won a Super Bowl championship during the 2019 campaign. He instantly transformed them from a young and mediocre team to one that made the playoffs in both of the last two seasons.
“Cheetah,” as he is nicknamed, gave quarterback Tua Tagovailoa a new weapon who could stretch the field and make game-changing plays on a regular basis. As excellent as he was in Kansas City, his production seemed to hit a new plateau in Miami. He had 119 receptions and 1,710 receiving yards, both of which were new career-highs, in 2022, and last season, he collected an NFL-high 1,799 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns.
But this has been a frustrating year for Hill. Just before Miami’s Week 1 game at home versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, he was pulled over by law enforcement for a traffic violation and subsequently taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs. His offensive production went up and down throughout the year, and he finished with just 79 catches and 939 receiving yards, his lowest output in both categories since 2019 when he missed games due to a shoulder injury.
This was the first time in his career he wasn’t chosen to play in the Pro Bowl.
Should Hill go through with a trade request, he could help a number of teams across the NFL take the next step toward becoming legitimate championship contenders. He would become a hot commodity, and at age 30, he should have at least a couple of years of high-level football left in him, as long as he is healthy.
