Report: Miami Dolphins remain engaged in trade talks with multiple teams

Fresh off Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver hinting that relationship struggles led to the situation that they are now in with star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler had some interesting news to report on the Ramsey trade front.

Per Fowler, the Dolphins are currently engaged with more than one NFL team about a deal that would ship Ramsey out of Miami, though nothing is imminent.

Fowler also cited the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Rams as potential suitors for Ramsey. The Rams, Ramsey’s former team, have been linked to the cornerback for a little while now, and Ramsey enjoyed some of his best years in the NFL so far both individually and collectively as a Ram.

Ramsey seems to have one foot out of Miami not all that long after he signed an extension with the Dolphins that made him the highest-paid player in the NFL at the cornerback position. In 2024, Ramsey and the Dolphins agreed to a three-year, $72.3 million extension.

Ramsey has been a member of the Dolphins for each of the past two seasons, and he started off his Miami tenure in the 2023 season after the Dolphins acquired him from the Rams for a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long.

The 30-year-old had injury concerns heading into his second (and probably final) season with the Dolphins, as he missed all three of Miami’s preseason games leading up to the 2024 campaign with a hamstring injury. But he ultimately put those worries to rest, as he started every one of Miami’s 17 games last season.

He finished the campaign with a pair of interceptions along with 60 combined tackles, six tackles for loss and four quarterback hits. He also had 11 passes defended. He didn’t earn any major honors, but in his first season with the Dolphins, he made the Pro Bowl.

Ramsey could prove to be the missing piece for a Super Bowl contender that could use a boost on the defensive side of the ball, and considering all signs are pointing to him getting moved in the near future, Dolphins fans should expect him to be playing for a different team this coming season.
