“I mean, it’s always important to feel valued first of all, you know what I’m sayin’?” Ramsey said. “And get paid for all your hard work and dedication and sacrifices and everything that you put into the organization, then them reward you with it, so that’s always important obviously. It’s money โ I got kids, and my kids is happy and family happy — so it’s all good. Yeah, I mean ever since I’ve gotten here, I feel like it’s been a great relationship. It’s been a growing relationship. They’ve learned a lot about me โ who I am as not only the player but the person. And same โ I’ve learned a lot about them and how real they are.”
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the three-year, $72.3 million extension between Ramsey and Miami.

โSince heโs been here, itโs felt mutually purposeful. Jalen saw a different level of player and leader this team could benefit from and he seized that. The team has definitely benefited from it.โ

It is still up in the air as to whether the NFL’s highest-paid cornerback will take the field with the Dolphins in their season opener versus the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sept. 8. However, Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver recently said that he’s “hopeful” regarding Ramsey’s chances of playing on Sunday.
Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver said he's "hopeful" Ramsey will play Sunday. "We have to be cognizant we have 2 games" in 5 days. "We'll see.'

If Ramsey is indeed feeling healthy enough to suit up against the Jaguars, that would mark his first game with the Dolphins in quite some time. He missed all three of Miami’s preseason contests thanks to a hamstring injury.
When taking a look at Ramsey’s numbers with the Dolphins during the 2023 regular season, one can see why Miami decided to hand him such a lucrative contract extension. He sat out seven of Miami’s 17 games, yet he still managed to accumulate three interceptions and 22 combined tackles in his first season as a member of the Dolphins franchise.
Last year, the Dolphins acquired Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2023 third-round draft pick along with tight end Hunter Long.
Before he was dealt to Miami, Ramsey spent three-plus seasons playing for the Rams. He earned a Pro Bowl appearance in every one of his full seasons in Los Angeles and was also an All-Pro selection in two seasons with the squad.
Ironically, Ramsey started out his NFL career with the team that the Dolphins are scheduled to take on on Sunday: the Jaguars. Jacksonville drafted him with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Dolphins fans should be ecstatic that the team has inked Ramsey to a long-term deal, and hopefully he can get back out on the field sooner rather than later.
