Tyreek Hill claps back at Noah Lyles: ‘Who gave you that title?’

The longtime beef between Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and American track and field star Noah Lyles got reignited recently. On Sunday, Lyles won the 60 meters held at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

After his victory, Lyles subsequently turned to the camera and held up a sign that read “Tyreek could never” in reference to the Dolphins star. Additionally, he took to X and proclaimed himself to be the fastest man in the world.

Hill seemingly disagrees with the idea that Lyles is the fastest man on earth, as he responded to Lyles’ X post by asking whether his very own Wikipedia page gave him that title.

The acrimony between Hill and Lyles seems to stem from comments that the former made all the way back in August of last year. Hill claimed that he has what it takes to beat the Olympic gold medalist in a race.

After Hill’s bold claim, a video of Lyles surfaced, and he made it clear that he wasn’t familiar with the 30-year-old receiver. Lyles said he couldn’t remember Hill’s name.

Lyles also gave Hill a backhanded compliment when he was asked to name a celebrity who would be a fast sprinter. He mentioned Hill not by name, rather he referred to him as “the one that thinks he’s fast.”

It’s of note that Lyles has challenged Hill to a race in the past and Hill accepted, but yet the two still have yet to face off in a race.

Hill has spent every one of his last three seasons in the NFL playing for the Dolphins franchise. He is fresh off probably his worst season with Miami both from individual and collective standpoints, however.

Individually, he finished the 2024 campaign with less than 1,000 receiving yards and tied a career-low with six receiving touchdowns across 17 games played. In addition, Miami won only eight of its 17 contests and did not qualify for the playoffs for the first time since Hill’s been on the roster.

Maybe Hill and Lyles will finally race sooner rather than later since the NFL season is over for the former.
