The Kansas City Chiefs punched their ticket to their third straight Super Bowl appearance on Sunday night, defeating Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC title game.
Kansas City has already won two Super Bowls in a row, and now it is chasing a third straight title under quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid.
One of the most amazing parts of Kansas City’s run is that it has done all of this directly after trading away star receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. Hill won a Super Bowl earlier in his career with the Chiefs, but he has spent the last three seasons (2022, 2023 and 2024) with Miami.
Hill appeared to react to the Chiefs’ win on social media on Sunday night.
Following the star receiver’s post, Chiefs fans flooded his social media with responses. They called him out for missing out on a legendary run and made sure to point out that Kansas City’s success has come after he was traded.
In addition to Chiefs fans taking shots at Hill, one Dolphins fan appeared to jokingly write that Tua Tagovailoa will get Hill to a Super Bowl one day.
It certainly must sting for Hill to see his former team have so much success without him, especially since the Dolphins haven’t come close to the same team success. Miami failed to make the playoffs in the 2024 season, finishing with an 8-9 record, and it has yet to win a playoff game since Hill joined the franchise.
To make matters worse, Kansas City eliminated the Dolphins from the playoffs in the 2023 season.
While Hill put up huge statistical numbers in his first two seasons with the Dolphins, the 2024 campaign was one to forget for the veteran receiver.
This season, Hill took a massive step back after back-to-back seasons where he finished with over 1,700 receiving yards. In the 2024 campaign, Hill caught 81 passes for 959 yards and six touchdowns, averaging just 56.4 receiving yards per game – his lowest average since his rookie season.
After Miami’s final regular season game, Hill implied that he was done playing for the franchise.
Only time will tell if Hill will be in a Dolphins uniform next season, but for now the star wideout has to watch his former team compete for another Lombardi Trophy.
