Tyreek Hill shares cryptic message on his future with 3 games left in Dolphins season

With just three contests remaining in the Miami Dolphins’ 2024 regular season and the team’s playoff hopes hanging by a thread, wide receiver Tyreek Hill made a post on X indicating that it’s time he gets some coaching experience under his belt.

Hill and the Dolphins now have a record of 6-8 after they lost to the Houston Texans by a final score of 20-12 back on Dec. 15. As of Wednesday, the Dolphins have just a six percent chance to qualify for the playoffs, according to NFL.com, but that number would increase to 12 percent if they can pick up a win against the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 22.

Perhaps if the 30-year-old played at a higher level against Houston, the Dolphins wouldn’t have suffered their second loss of their past three contests. He totaled 36 receiving yards and zero receiving touchdowns on two receptions. Hill’s 36 receiving yards marks the fewest he’s racked up in a single contest since all the way back on Nov. 11, when he accumulated just 16 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Maybe Hill is seemingly considering becoming a coach in part because of his lack of production in his third season as a member of the Dolphins. In 16 games played during the 2023 season, he finished with a league-high 1,799 receiving yards and led the NFL with 13 receiving touchdowns. Through 14 games played this season, Hill has just 805 receiving yards and is on pace to finish with under quadruple digits in that stat for the first time since the 2019 campaign.

Hill is in jeopardy of ending up with the fewest receiving touchdowns in a single season of his pro career as well. He has five receiving touchdowns and has yet to end a campaign with fewer than six. Over his first two seasons in Miami, Hill totaled 20 receiving scores in 33 games.

Dolphins fans are surely hoping that Hill will bounce back from his quiet showing against the Texans when Miami takes on the 49ers. San Francisco shares an identical record with Miami at 6-8 and is fresh off a loss to the Rams on Dec. 12 after the team mustered just six points compared to Los Angeles’ 12.
