Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill spoke to the media on Tuesday and was asked his contract situation with the team.

While Hill didn’t go into specifics, he did say that he does not want his agent Drew Rosenhaus to get him traded out of Miami.

“Obviously, I let Drew and the team handle that, that situation,” Hill said. “And the only thing I told Drew was like, ‘Do not get me traded, bro. The last time you did this, you got me traded.’ So that’s been my only thing to him. I wanna stay here in Miami, man.”

The veteran was dealt from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Dolphins back in 2022. Miami dealt five draft picks โ€” including a first-round pick in 2022 โ€” in exchange for Hill, and the Dolphins wasted no time inking him to a four-year deal worth $120 million.

Hill, who is fresh off arguably the most productive season of his pro career, is set to earn around $31 million with the Dolphins in the upcoming 2024 campaign. He has been looking for a new deal from the team this offseason.

The 30-year-old isn’t the only star offensive player for the Dolphins whose name has been thrown around in contract rumors.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoaย will be in the final year of his rookie contract this season and is looking for a long-term deal. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Monday that the Green Bay Packers are closer to extending quarterback Jordan Love than the Dolphins are to extending Tagovailoa.

โ€œI donโ€™t think theyโ€™re as far along right now as the Packers and Jordan Love, obviously,โ€ Schefter said. โ€œI think both sides still would like to get it done. The Dolphins have been very open about the fact Tua is their guy into the future, but the question is, what is the number?โ€

Tagovailoa’s situation is worth monitoring as the season approaches.

Hill, meanwhile, had a legitimate case for being the NFL’s best offensive player during the 2023 regular season. Across 16 games played (all starts), he led the league in total receiving yards (1,799), receiving yards per contest (112.4) and receiving touchdowns (13).

He finished with the seventh-most receiving yards in a single season in the history of the league. Calvin Johnson, Cooper Kupp, Julio Jones, Jerry Rice, Antonio Brown and Justin Jefferson are the only six names to have ever totaled more than 1,799 receiving yards in a single campaign.

Johnson holds the all-time record, as he totaled an unbelievable 1,964 receiving yards with the Detroit Lions in the 2012 regular season.

Hill unfortunately didn’t play like his regular-season self in Miami’s playoff loss to the Chiefs last season, considering he totaled just 62 receiving yards on five receptions. But he did score a touchdown, and in truth, no offensive player for the Dolphins had a particularly great game, as Miami scored only seven points as a team.

Hill will certainly be hungry for more this coming season regardless of the status of his contract.
