Blake Ferguson has taken to social media to praise Ron DeSantis, with the Miami Dolphins long snapper showing support for a pro-veteran law the Florida governor signed recently.

Ferguson has also expressed support for the controversial Republican politician in another instance. He earlier praised former president Donald Trump for his actions related to insulin prices in response to someone crediting current president Joe Biden for what he had done on the matter.

Ferguson has type 1 diabetes and needs to use insulin to treat the condition. The 27-year-old also is very much involved in military initiatives undertaken by the Dolphins and the NFL, including through its Salute to Service program.

Inspired by his great grandfather, who was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, and his best friend, a member of the U.S. Air Force, Ferguson has taken part in many activities for veterans since joining the Dolphins as a sixth-round pick (No. 185 overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Those include hosting a military appreciation barbecue to honor active-duty military members and veterans in South Florida and distributing Thanksgiving meals to military veterans and active reserve members in Broward County. He also surprised an Air Force veteran with a brand-new air-conditioning unit to thank her for her service.

About to embark on his fifth season with the Dolphins in the 2024 NFL campaign, Ferguson is signed through the 2026 season after getting a contract extension in the summer of 2023. He has appeared in all 67 regular-season games Miami has played since his arrival.

He will again be looking to help Miami get its first playoff victory in more than 20 years. Coming off back-to-back playoff appearances, the Dolphins face a lingering contract negotiation with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, with a recent report saying there is “not a ton of progress” in those talks.

The Dolphins will get back to work when training camp opens in late July. They open the 2024 NFL season with home games against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 8 and the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Until then, Ferguson likely will continue to keep his eye on the political landscape with the 2024 presidential election coming up in early November.
