Miami Dolphins tackle Terron Armstead recently sung the praises of his teammate in signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa.

“He’s gonna be one of the highest paid ever,” Armstead said of Tagovailoa. “… He’s an elite quarterback. He’s one of the top guys in the league. He’s able to do things that very few on Earth can.”

Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill also gave the signal-caller his flowers earlier in the month in saying that Tagovailoa should have been paid by now.

Armstead has played alongside Tagovailoa on the Dolphins for two seasons now.

The pair has helped the Dolphins achieve an impressive amount of regular-season success during that time, considering Miami finished with a 9-8 record during the 2022 campaign and 11-6 in the 2023 season.

In their first season as teammates, the two each appeared in 13 of Miami’s 17 games, but in the next season, Tagovailoa had great injury luck while Armstead did not. The former didn’t miss a single one of Miami’s contests in the 2023 regular season after dealing with more than one scary head injury the season prior.

Armstead, on the other hand, was limited to just 10 games thanks to a host of different impingements that kept him sidelined.

The 32-year-old was able to suit up for the Dolphins when it mattered most, though, and so did Tagovailoa. Both players got the start for Miami’s playoff matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Jan. 13, but that game is likely one that the Dolphins would like to forget.

The Dolphins mustered just seven points as a team, and the play of Tagovailoa against Kansas City’s defense was a contributing factor in the loss. He threw for only 199 yards — well below his regular-season average of 272 passing yards per contest — and only one passing touchdown compared to one interception.

To put into perspective just how productive Kansas City’s offense was compared to that of Miami, the former totaled 409 yards of offense while the latter finished with just 264.

In the upcoming 2024 season — Tagovailoa and Armstead’s third season playing alongside each other — hopefully the Dolphins can get over that hump as a team and finally carry over their regular-season success into the playoffs.
