Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Robbie Chosen recently spoke on his relationship with fellow receiver Jaylen Waddle, and the two seemingly have a tight bond, as the former said he views the latter as a “little brother.”
“And then I enjoy — with Waddle, I look at him like a little brother,” Chosen said while reflecting on his season with the Dolphins. “So, I’m able to teach him things that I probably didn’t know, and I embrace that.”
Prior to becoming a member of the Dolphins organization, Chosen had stints playing for the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals. He has played more games for the Jets than any other team, as he appeared in 62 total games with the franchise across four seasons earlier in his career.
Waddle and Chosen played alongside each other at times during the 2023 season. The two were part of a receiving corps that was led by Tyreek Hill, who totaled a career-high 1,799 receiving yards.
Chosen appeared in nine of the Dolphins’ 17 regular-season games during his 2023 season with Miami, while Waddle logged 14 appearances (all starts) during his third season in the NFL and with the Dolphins.
From a statistical standpoint, Waddle enjoyed a far better 2023 regular season than Chosen did. Waddle totaled nearly 10 times more receiving yards than the 31-year-old did (1,014 compared to 126) and also racked up 47 first downs receiving and four receiving touchdowns. He averaged 14.1 yards per catch and 72.4 receiving yards per game.
Chosen did have one very memorable performance, and that came in a dominant win over the Denver Broncos in September. In a game Miami won by 50 points, he ended up with 68 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown — all of which came on one play.
Waddle, meanwhile, finished with 100-plus receiving yards on three separate occasions in the 2023 regular season, including a season-high 142 receiving yards on eight receptions and nine targets versus the Jets in December.
If Waddle’s play during the 2023 campaign is any indication, the relationship that he and Chosen have developed has had a positive impact on the youngster, and maybe Chosen can guide Waddle on a path to even more success in the future.
Chosen is currently a free agent. He visited the Dolphins earlier this offseason, but his future remains a question mark.
