Tua Tagovailoa offers immediate update on shoulder injury he suffered vs. Baltimore Ravens

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa provided an immediate update on the shoulder injury that he suffered in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s road matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Before going down with his shoulder injury, Tagovailoa tallied 237 passing yards and two touchdowns compared to two interceptions. He completed 22 of his 38 passing attempts in the game.

The 25-year-old came up well short of his season average of 280.9 passing yards per game.

Tagovailoa and the Dolphins lost to the Ravens by a final score of 56-19 to drop their record to 11-5 on the season. Conversely, the Ravens improved to 13-3 — which is the best record in the AFC — with the win.

Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson outplayed Tagovailoa on Sunday. The former finished with 321 passing yards and five passing touchdowns while completing 18 of his 21 attempts through the air. Jackson also took better care of the ball than Tagovailoa did, as he threw zero interceptions against Miami.

Now that Miami’s game against the Ravens is over and done, the Dolphins have just one game remaining on their regular season schedule. Miami will close out the 2023 regular season against a fellow AFC East team in the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 7.

The Bills have arguably been playing their best football of the season over the past month. The team has won four games in a row and earned a six-point home victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. At 10-6, the Bills are just one game back of the Dolphins for the top record in the AFC East division.

Hopefully, Tagovailoa will be good to go for the Dolphins in a game that will have major playoff implications for the team. Tagovailoa’s immediate update on his shoulder seems to indicate that he doesn’t believe the injury is serious.

Even if the quarterback is unable to play for Miami, the Dolphins’ home record this season indicates that they would still have a solid chance at picking up a win. The Dolphins own a 7-1 home record, with their only home loss coming against the Tennessee Titans back on Dec. 11.
