The Miami Dolphins reportedly fear that Bradley Chubb suffered a torn ACL in the team’s loss against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
The Dolphins lost to the Ravens by 37 points in what was likely the team’s worst loss of the season to this point. The Ravens were in control for the lion’s share of the game, seeing as how they outscored the Dolphins in each of the final three quarters after Miami held a 10-7 lead at the end of the first.
Chubb suffered a knee injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game and was subsequently carted off the field. Before leaving the game, he had six combined tackles, one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit.
The 27-year-old is in his second season with the Dolphins after the team traded for him during the 2022 campaign. He played for the Denver Broncos — who drafted him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft — prior to being dealt to Miami.
He has appeared in every one of the Dolphins’ games so far during the 2023 regular season and entered play on Sunday with 68 combined tackles, 42 solo tackles, 26 assists on tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 21 quarterback hits to go along with a league-high six forced fumbles.
If Chubb indeed has suffered a torn ACL, his absence would be a huge loss for the team and one that could affect its playoff run as well. His numbers with the Dolphins this season, plus the fact that he earned a Pro Bowl appearance a season ago, indicate that he is not only one of Miami’s best defensive players, but one of the best in the entire NFL.
Before the Dolphins focus on the playoffs, they have one game left to play on their regular season schedule. The Dolphins will take on the Buffalo Bills at home on Jan. 7. The Bills are right behind Miami in the AFC East standings with a 10-6 record and haven’t lost a game since falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in overtime back on Nov. 26.
