Emmanuel Ogbah seemingly issues public reaction to being healthy scratch for Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens

Miami Dolphins defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah appeared to react to being a healthy scratch for the team’s Week 17 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Miami announced its inactive players for Week 17, and Ogbah joined quarterback Skylar Thompson, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, running back Raheem Mostert, offensive lineman Robert Hunt and tight end Tyler Kroft on the list.

Before the official announcement was made, the Dolphins defensive end appeared to post a reaction to his status for Week 17 on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter).

Ogbah has appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins this season, but he has not started any of those matchups. He was also inactive for the Dolphins’ game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16 on Christmas Eve.

His usage has been low at numerous points this season for the Dolphins. He played in well under 10 percent of the team’s defensive snaps against the New York Jets in Week 15, although he did record half a sack in that game.

He actually played more special teams snaps (six) than he did defensive snaps (four) against New York. Prior to that, Ogbah played in just 11 percent of defensive snaps in Week 11 and Week 8, and he did not play a single defensive snap in Week 9.

In the first six weeks of the season, Ogbah played in at least 22 percent of the team’s defensive snaps in each game.

A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, Ogbah has been with the Dolphins since the 2020 season.

He was a starter for most of the 2020 and 2021 campaigns, getting the starting nod in 23 of the 33 games that he appeared in during that two-season span.

This season, Ogbah has made 16 combined tackles, two tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in 14 games. He’s also forced a fumble for the Dolphins defense.

It appears that Miami has more confidence in some of the other players on its defensive line than Ogbah at this point in the 2023 season.

Sunday’s matchup with Baltimore is a huge one for the Dolphins, as the team could have a shot at the No. 1 seed in the AFC if it wins. However, with a loss, the Dolphins would lose out on that chance, as Baltimore would clinch the top spot in the conference.

The Dolphins and Ravens are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday, Dec. 31.
