The Miami Dolphins are hoping that they will earn their fourth victory of the 2023 regular season when they face off against the New York Giants at home on Sunday. Center Connor Williams and linebacker Jaelan Phillips are among the Dolphins players listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Phillips was selected with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft after a college football career that included two seasons at the University of California, Los Angeles. He accumulated 12-plus solo tackles, five-plus assisted tackles and 20-plus total tackles in each of his two seasons as a member of the Bruins.

But it wasn’t until the 2020 season that Phillips established himself as a legitimate college football star. He enjoyed the best season of his college career during the 2020 season when he was a member of the University of Miami. The linebacker accumulated 21 solo tackles, 24 assisted tackles, 45 total tackles and 8.0 sacks in 10 games played with the Hurricanes.

He has played three seasons in the NFL, all as a member of the Dolphins franchise. Phillips totaled 61 combined tackles, 37 solo tackles, 25 quarterback hits and one forced fumble in 17 games played with the Dolphins during the 2022 regular season (15 starts).

Also, the 6-foot-5 linebacker finished with 7.0 sacks and eight tackles for loss a season ago.

Meanwhile, Williams was selected with the No. 50 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after playing college football at the University of Texas at Austin. He has played for two teams — the Dallas Cowboys and Dolphins — across his six seasons in the NFL.

Williams was selected by the Cowboys in the 2018 NFL Draft and spent the first four seasons of his NFL career in Dallas before he signed with the Dolphins as a free agent during the 2022 offseason.

The 6-foot-5 center recovered one fumble across 17 games played with Miami during the 2022 regular season (all starts).

Here’s to hoping that both Phillips and Williams will be good to go for the Dolphins against New York on Sunday, but especially the former. After all, Phillips is one of the best defensive players on the team.
