Latest Miami Dolphins roster move signals Jaylen Waddle missing Week 3 matchup vs. Denver Broncos

A recent move by the Miami Dolphins indicates that star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle will miss Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. The Dolphins announced on Saturday that they have elevated 30-year-old wide receiver Robbie Chosen to the active roster for tomorrow’s game.

Waddle was selected with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft after three seasons playing college football at the University of Alabama. He racked up 560-plus receiving yards and four-plus receiving touchdowns in each of his three seasons as a member of the Crimson Tide.

Arguably Waddle’s best season of college football came during his freshman season, the 2018 season. He totaled 848 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns across 15 games played with the Crimson Tide as a freshman.

Waddle’s contributions translated into a whole lot of success for the 2018 iteration of the Crimson Tide. They finished the season with an excellent 14-1 record but lost to Clemson University in the National Championship by a final score of 44-16. Waddle finished with 25 receiving yards on two receptions in the loss.

The 24-year-old wide receiver has played three seasons in the NFL, all as a member of the Dolphins franchise. Waddle is fresh off the best season of his pro career, as he accumulated a whopping 1,356 receiving yards along with eight receiving touchdowns in 17 games played with the Dolphins during the 2022 regular season (all starts).

Also, Waddle averaged a league-high 18.1 receiving yards per reception a season ago.

Meanwhile, Chosen went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft and has played for three teams — the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals — across his seven seasons in the NFL. The 30-year-old wide receiver finished with 282 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown in 16 games played with the Panthers and Cardinals during the 2022 regular season (seven starts).

If the recent move by the Dolphins does indeed mean that Waddle will miss Sunday’s game against the Broncos, here’s to hoping that Chosen will put together a standout performance in his absence. After all, the Dolphins might need one of their wide receivers outside of Tyreek Hill to step up if they want to continue their winning ways on Sunday.
