All signs point to good news for Terron Armstead following his injury in Miami Dolphins practice

Terron Armstead posted a video of himself walking and reportedly texted that he’ll be “good” after the Miami Dolphins offensive tackle was carted off from the sidelines with an injured right leg on Thursday.

The 32-year-old reportedly will have an MRI, but it’s possible he was able to avoid a serious injury.

Armstead reportedly needed crutches to get on a cart that took him away from the Houston Texans facility, where the Dolphins were participating in a joint practice. During an 11-on-11 drill, Armstead fell to the ground but was able to limp off the field before being taken away from the sidelines.

It is the latest development in a string of injuries suffered by the four-time Pro Bowler.

Last season, his first with the Dolphins, he reportedly played through a foot injury that drew a recommendation for surgery that would have ended his season. He also appeared on the injury report with toe and pectoral injuries. Despite those issues, he missed only four games and earned his latest Pro Bowl nod.

If he avoided a serious injury on Thursday, the Dolphins should be able to exhale a little.

Armstead suffered multiple injuries with the New Orleans Saints in 2021 and missed nine games. The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff product has played more than 14 games in an NFL season just once, and one veteran scout said he no longer maintains elite status because of his ailments.

Dolphins defensive tackle Brandon Pili also was shaken up during the practice on Thursday. After he walked off, trainers were examining the back of his neck.

The newly injured players join star cornerback Jalen Ramsey among those who have been injured during Dolphins training camp. The 28-year-old newcomer suffered a knee injury during an earlier practice and required surgery.

The Dolphins will likely need to be at full strength to win the AFC East for the first time since the 2008 season. They also are trying to make the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since the early 2000s.

With possible good news about Armstead, the Dolphins will continue to have high hopes as they prepare for their preseason game against the Texans on Saturday leading up to their regular season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 10.
