Raheem Mostert says he can see opposing defenses stress about Miami Dolphins’ speed

Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert said that he can see opposing defenses stressing about the Dolphins’ speed on offense.

The Dolphins have three of the fastest playmakers in the NFL in Mostert, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and the team added yet another speed demon in the draft in running back Devon Achane.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe explained how Achane can take Miami’s offense to the next level.

“Now Mike McDaniel gets another toy to play with — another playmaker — which should make that offense even more dynamic,” Wolfe said. “And just getting a little a bit of insight of what that does to defenses — I asked Mostert — he said he can literally see defenses stress about that speed.”

Achane, who played collegiately at Texas A&M University, was the Dolphins’ third-round draft pick this year (84th overall).

At Texas A&M, Achane lit defenses up with his speed, averaging 6.4 yards per carry across three seasons. He put together a 2022 campaign with 1,102 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns.

The speedster is also a proven pass catcher, as he reeled in 65 catches for 554 yards in his collegiate career. In two of his three seasons for the Aggies, Achane registered over 1,000 yards from scrimmage.

The Dolphins have a bit of a loaded backfield with Mostert, Achane, Jeff Wilson Jr., Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed, but they should be able to rotate their top backs pretty regularly to keep them fresh.

That should allow Mostert and Achane to flash game-breaking speed on a weekly basis.

Teams have to be worried about the Dolphins beating them deep in the passing game, especially since quarterback Tua Tagovailoa led the NFL in yards gained per pass attempt and yards gained per pass completion last season.

Mostert and Achane have the speed to stretch defenses from sideline to sideline on running plays, and it seems likely that McDaniel will include Achane as a weapon in the passing game as well.

The Dolphins are hoping that their offense can carry them back to the playoffs in the 2023 season. The team also added to its defense by trading for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey this offseason.

Opposing teams are going to have a lot to plan for when they face Miami in the 2023 season.
